What is Hair Removal by Laser?

A surgical technique for the removal of unnecessary hair using a laser. In most major cities, including Las Vegas Nevada, it has become one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed in the United States.

How is it working?

It uses rays of extremely focused light to penetrate the hair follicles selectively. In the hair follicles, the light is then absorbed by pigment, killing the hair inside the follicle, which prevents potential hair development.

While hair growth is effectively slowed down by the procedure, it does not guarantee permanent hair removal. To provide relief from excess hair, it usually takes many treatments. Periodic maintenance therapies may also be required.

Different types of lasers have been produced and are used. The most common of these are alexandrite, diode, YAG neodymium and strong sources of pulsed light.

Is that safe?

Used mostly to remove the face, thighs, underarms, upper lip, chin and bikini line from excess hair. With great precision, lasers can selectively target hair while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Each laser pulse takes just a fraction of a second to treat a large number of hairs at the same time.

While it is possible to treat excess hair in almost any area, due to the possibility of serious eye injury, laser hair removal is not recommended for the eyelid or surrounding area.

Treatment Planning

As in any medical procedure, trained staff, such as a physician or physician’s assistant, can administer this care. Be wary of spas, salons or other facilities that allow this procedure to be performed by non-medical staff.
